So at 9:00 am at the start of leg 2 the riders received a piece of paper with two bonuses listed, one of which was to visit the IBA Memorial at Gerlach, NV, between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm, about 110 miles away from the checkpoint at Boomtown Casino. Very easy if there is not road construction and a pilot car only letting traffic through every 15 minutes. A rider on the scene sent us this photo asking "How do you arrange this?" We'll never tell.
